Eden Hazard Kicked The Ball Boy
By
Leo
Not a good news for Eden Hazard's (£9.4m, 127 season pts) fantasy managers. The lad kicked a ball boy in an attempt to grab the ball from him, who was trying to waste some time for Swansea, who eventually eliminated Chelsea to progress to the final of Capital One Cup.
As a result, a red was shown and the Belgian will miss the next 3 games. Fortunately though, there are ample of elite fantasy midfielders priced at similar range who you can get as a direct replacement, such as Juan Mata (£10.0m, 137 season pts), Santi Cazorla (£9.6m, 129 season pts), Steven Gerrard (£9.8m, 128 season pts), Theo Walcott (£9.4m , 120 season pts) and Gareth Bale (£9.8m, 118 season pts).
Good luck to all fantasy managers.

Saturday Screamers: Swans and Cottagers on Fire
By
Leo
![]() |
19 points in his Premier League debut? Dream start.
- Swansea won 5-0 against QPR. It looks like the Swans will continue to impress under Michael Laudrup's regime as new signing Michu (£6.5m) marked his name with 2 goals and 1 assist. Don't say I didn't tell you about Michu's fantasy potential before as he should become one of the super bargain this season. Nathan Dyer (£5.5m) also delivered 2 goals, which was impressive.
- Also winning 5-0 are Fulham against Norwich. Mladen Petric (£6.0m) carried forward his fine form since pre-season with 2 goals and 1 assist, just like Michu. I've also covered him in my pre-season previews and he should become a season bargain as well. No Dempsey, but who cares?
- Liverpool seem like a cursed team as they lost woefully to West Brom by 3 goals. Zoltan Gera (£5.0m) scored a goal of the season candidate, but it was Liverpool's unorganized offence and porous defence that caught my attention more.
- The first Premier League game of Arsenal in post-RVP era has ended goalless. Santi Cazorla (£9.0m) has impressed the fans though with his footwork.
- Reading's first of the two games for this gameweek ended with a draw thanks to Adam Le Fondre's (£5.0m) penalty in the ending minutes. Pavel Pogrebnyak (£5.0m) failed to score, which is disappointing.
- West Ham won 1-0 with Kevin Nolan (£6.0m) scoring. The midfielder should be the club's main fantasy contributor as expected.

Last Season: Fantastic Debut
Swansea are the first Welsh team to play in the Premier League, and they did not disappoint. Superb tiki-taka play, wonderfully acrobatic Michel Vorm and great loanee Glyfi Sigurdsson have all made the season at Liberty Stadium a happening one. An 11th placed finish have certainly far beaten out fans' expectations.
Michael Laudrup has marked his takeover with three new players currently - former Genoa defender Jose Manuel Flores, youngster Jonathan de Guzman from Villareal (loan) and attacking midfielder Michu from Roya Vallecano. Decent players.
Joe Allen meanwhile has gone to Liverpool recently, bringing £15m to the Swans. Great, great business.
Upcoming Season: Continuation of Tiki-Taka?
Clearly the club owners do not hope to disrupt much of the current system inherited from Brendan Rodgers, and the appointment of Michael Laudrup proves that. Laudrup has gained a lot of Spanish football experience during his time at Getafe and Mallorca, and is a big admirer of one-two passing. But can he maintain or even escalate the Swans' tiki-taka to the next level? Time will tell.

Sinclair's FPL stats last season.
Scott Sinclair (£7.0m) resembles a good value to fantasy managers last season, thanks to outstanding offensive ability, and most importantly, his role in taking set pieces.
The lad played over 3000 minutes last season - no issue of rotation - and was the primary penalty taker of the team. Unless these change, I see Sinclair as a value buy who can deliver consistency to your team.
Flying Man: Vorm (FI: 0.674)
I think Michel Vorm (£5.5m) is the first ever fantasy goalkeeper who tops the team's scoring table, and he deserves it thoroughly after recording a whopping 143 saves last season.
The Dutch was one of the excitement of Premier League last season, thanks to his wonderful reflexes and exhilarating flying saves (click here to watch some of his best saves last season). He is one of the greatest goalkeeper in the making.
Nonetheless, spending £5.5m on him when Swansea have just changed their manager is a risky move, so I suggest to wait at least 2-3 gameweeks and see Swansea's defensive performance before you decide whether to get the superman.
Budget Pick: Dyer (FI: 0.611)
Nathan Dyer (£5.5m) was one of the hit at Liberty Stadium last season, as he hit his career high with 5 goals and 4 assists.
Given his price of £5.5m, you can hardly find any better fantasy midfielder than him. Definitely a good pick for your fourth or fifth midfielder.
Next Sigurdsson?: Michu (FI: N/A)
Michu (£6.5m) went through a successful season last term with Rayo Vallecano, scoring 15 La Liga goals in the process and got Laudrup's attention to sign him.
He is yet to prove himself in the Premier League, but given his stats, don't be surprised if he becomes the next Sigurdsson of the team.

Kick-Off: Gameweek 25 Fantasy Preview
By
Leo
The handshake routine will not be cancelled for Man Utd-Liverpool encounter.
A pretty two poled feelings last week with Van Persie's owners laughing happily and the rest left stunned. Can RvP repeat the feat? Not so positive against in-form Sunderland.
The shocking news this week is no other than Fabio Capello's resignation. The Italian coach is not happy with FA's decision to strip Terry's captaincy and thus decided to leave. Harry Redknapp tops the list to replace him.
Game of the Week: MANCHESTER UNITED v LIVERPOOL
Can Berbatov get a start and hat-trick again?
The usual handshake routine will not be cancelled according to FA and it will be interesting to see how Evra and Suarez react to each other. Strong personal rivalry. Luis Suarez will be eager to pay a revenge through his fancy footwork so expect tough times by defensive partnership of Evans and Ferdinand. In form Carroll could also be a big threat if he can get good aerial supplies by his teammates. Two big man to watch.
On the other side, all key players including the long missing Cleverly could be available for this game. It would be hard to predict the starting midfielders and forwards correctly, but I believe both Valencia and Rooney would still get the right to start and produce some havoc to one of the best defensive line (which might be without Jose Enrique) in the Premier League.
Surely it would be an intense game, but Liverpool's poor away attack (14 away goals only this season) will hinder their chances at Old Trafford. Expect good performances by the Red Devils.
Prediction: MUN 2-1 LIV
Pick: Valencia
Fantasy Game of the Week: SWANSEA v NORWICH
Sinclair has been pretty impressive this season.
Sigurdsson has a flying start in the Premier League, while both Sinclair and Dyer are very threatening in the flanks. Up front they have Danny Graham who does a decent job as a forward. Expect goals from this quartet of attackers.
I will not be surprised if Norwich can score past the rubber hand Michel Vorm, but Swansea should really get a victory here.
Prediction: SWA 3-1 NOR
Pick: Sigurdsson, Sinclair, Dyer, Graham
Drop: NOR defence
Pick and Drop
Pick and Captain:
- Aguero - Broke his goal drought and that might be the opening of floodgate.
- Mata - Very pivotal in Chelsea's offence.
Pick:
- N'gog - Should score against Wigan.
- Zamora - Samba-less Blackburn will not have the quality to stop him.
- Van Persie - Always start him regardless of his opposition.
- Sessegnon/ McClean - Arsenal's defence is weak.
- Jarvis - Played well last week and should continue to perform.
Drop:
- NEW defence - Against Tottenham, clean sheet is hardly likely.
- AST defence - City's blades are sharp.
Transfer Traffic
Green light (buy):
- Richards - Good fixtures oncoming.
- Oxlade-Chamberlain - Sensational form.
- Demba Ba - His price sky leaped by £0.4m since his return.
- Van Persie - Get him before his price reaches a prohibitive level.
- McClean - Superbly cheap and in form.
- Sigurdsson - The bandwagon should start in the next few gameweeks.
Yellow light (watch):
- Yakubu - Observe Blackburn's performance before getting him in.
- Assou-Ekkoto - Fantasy managers are overly optimistic on him.
- Mata - Chelsea's form is quite unstable at the moment.
- Kompany - Still not sure whether he will play this week.
Red light (sell):
- LIV players - United this round, League Cup final next round (no league fixture), and Arsenal after that.
- Adebayor - Terribly out of form.
- D Cisse - Red carded.
Gameweek 25 Dream Team

Kick-Off: Gameweek 6 Fantasy Preview
By

Stuart Holden back to Bolton's rescue.
There are plenty of actions in Carling Cup on the midweek as we saw fellow benchwarmers like Owen and Oxlade-Chamberlain shone. The more important news are of course the return of Stuart Holden (Bolton) and Hatem Ben-Arfa who both recovered from long-term injuries. Two fantasy players to watch.
Game of the Week: STOKE CITY v MANCHESTER UNITED
Phil Jones is a versatile beast. Strong and determined.
Stoke suffered a 0-4 defeat away to Sunderland last week, but at Britannia Stadium it's going to be a different story. The Potters are still yet to concede any goal at home in local fixtures including the Carling Cup tie against Tottenham where they won by penalties.
On the other hand, Man Utd continued their to record their best league opening for tens of years as they beat old-time rival Leeds 3-1 in the Carling Cup encounter. Michael Owen scored a brace but it will be too much for him to knock both Chicharito and Berbatov out to start with Rooney.
A classic sword and shield encounter. Tony Pulis' team might be able to shock us, but most probably it will be Sir Alex Ferguson's side to extend their record run of 6 straight league victories. United players will continue to shine.
Prediction: STO 0-1 MUN
Pick: Rooney, A Young, Jones
Drop: STO defence except Begovic
Fantasy Game of the Week: CHELSEA v SWANSEA
Hopefully not another miss of the century.
Scott Sinclair will face his old club but it will be too much for him to lead Swansea sinking Stamford Bridge. Maybe a surprise goal, but certainly not a victory.
Another sign for Torres resurrection - he's spectacular last week despite the miss of the millennium. I believe this time it's not false positive though compared to the first gameweek - as long as it's the pack of fast players like Ramires, Mata and Meireles who will be pairing up with him.
Shouldn't be too hard for Chelsea, so start your Torres, Mata, Meireles, Ramires and Bosingwa if you own them.
Prediction: CHE 3-0 SWA
Pick and Captain: Torres
Pick: Mata, Meireles, Ramires, Bosingwa
Drop: SWA defence except Vorm
Pick and Drop
Pick and Captain:
- Suarez - Liverpool are more consistent at Anfield. Perhaps the last chance for Suarez to prove himself.
- Van Persie - The Gunners will learn from their mistake and improve on.
- Adebayor - On fire and cannot be stopped.
- Best - A differential captain pick if you're willing to risk.
Pick:
- Man City players - Not an easy game against Everton, but home advantage should bring them through.
- Wright-Phillips, Barton - Should be able to get something at home.
- Gervinho - Should get a lot of chances.
- Van der Vaart - Returns to take set pieces.
Drop:
- WIG defence - I can't see a clean sheet against Adebayor and Van der Vaart.
Transfer Traffic
Green light (buy):
- Adebayor - Expect huge bandwagon soon.
- SWP, Barton - Two productive players from QPR.
- Aguero, Agbonlahor, Best - Productive players at different tiers.
- Jones - Can play everywhere in defence and hence less rotation fears.
Yellow light (watch):
- Torres - Looks like he has discovered his form...
- Ben Arfa - Returned and should be under your radar.
- Holden - Will provide good supplies for Bolton in the center of midfield.
- Enrique - Short of clean sheets and you should be prepared for a contingency plan to sell him.
- Gerrard - Might bring direct impact to Liverpool's play.
Red light (sell):
- ARS defence - Too mistake prone.
- EVE players - Tough series of fixtures.
- Klasnic - 3 match ban.
- Moses - Not performing.
Gameweek 6 Dream Team
Krul
Bosingwa -- Kompany -- Enrique
Arteta -- SWP -- VDV -- Mata
Suarez -- Adebayor(C) -- RVP(VC)
Subs: Kenny -- Cabaye -- R Taylor -- Jones

Kick-Off: Gameweek 1 Fantasy Preview

North London in chaos.
Riots were all over England as Premier League begun its new season countdown. Fortunately the situation is controlled now, with only the game at White Hart Lane (Tottenham v Everton) being postponed due to its location which is very near to the origin of the riot.
9 games are expected to play this Saturday. Are you ready yet?
7-Gameweek Fixture Analysis (Published Monthly)
In heaven run:
- Aston Villa (@FUL, BLA, WOL, @EVE, NEW, @QPR, WIG) - Apart from away game to Fulham and Everton, these are pretty easy for the Villans. Bent, N'Zogbia and Given should be a part of your team if you want a good start for the next two months.
- Chelsea (@STO, WBA, NOR, @SUN, @MNU, SWA, BOL) - What an easy start for AVB. Apart from the visit to Old Trafford and possibly Stadium of Light as well, the rest will most probably give them easy 3 points.
In hell run:
- Bolton (@QPR, MCI, @LIV, MNU, NOR, @ARS, CHE) - Fighting 5 of the top 6 last season in two months is definitely a crazy task for Owen Coyle. They should feel proud if they are not at the bottom of the league after these 7 games.
- Blackburn (WOL, @AVL, EVE, @FUL, ARS, @NEW, MCI) - The opening game against Wolves is somewhat crucial for them. For the next 6 games the Rovers are either visiting tough home teams or getting visited by tough teams.
- Tottenham ( - , @MNU, MCI, @WOL, LIV, @WIG, ARS) - Packed against title rivals in their first 7. Home games will be crucial in deciding their target for this season.
- Stoke (CHE, @NOR, @WBA, LIV, @SUN, MNU, @SWA) - The Potters are only good at home... Their first few visitors to Britannia are damn tough.
Jordan Henderson to face his former club this week.
Henderson will play against his old club as Liverpool plan to make a brilliant start for their new campaign.
Both clubs have splashed significant amount of money in the transfer market. However, compared to the signings of Liverpool, it is obvious that Sunderland's newcomers are one level below of Liverpool's.
I am not seeing a clean sheet here, but at Anfield, the Reds should open their season with 3 solid points.
Carroll and Downing are the safest fantasy picks for Liverpool currently; as for Sunderland, take Larsson or Gyan if you are expecting away goals.
Prediction: LIV 3-1 SUN
Pick as captain: Carroll
Pick: Downing, Larsson, Gyan
Drop: SUN defenders
Fantasy Game of the Week: MAN CITY v SWANSEA
Goals or reds from Balotelli?
Compared to the mega budget City, Swansea's squad is as thin as paper. It looks like a mission impossible for them to beat City on the road.
It is obvious to start all City players you have. Aguero is still lack of match fitness, so stay away from him as for now. The only man at Swansea worthy for a fantasy start this gameweek is Scott Sinclair.
Prediction: MCI 3-0 SWA
Pick as captain: Balotelli, Silva, Yaya Toure
Pick: MCI defenders, Dzeko
Drop: SWA players
Pick and Drop
Nani should get a head start in fantasy scoreboard.
- Rooney, Nani, Young - Man Utd visits WBA, the poorest defence unit of last season, this week.
- Van Persie - Confirmed to be available after all the injury doubts. Fabregas and Nasri's transfer sagas should not affect him.
Pick:
- Malouda, Lampard - Chelsea is in spectacular form throughout pre-season.
- Taarabt, QPR defenders - They are facing much deteriorated Bolton at home. Wait to see Neil Warnock's preferred forward selections though.
- Rodallega - Norwich shouldn't be too tough for him.
Drop:
- BOL defenders - Away clean sheet seems impossible.
- Torres - AVB is more keen to use Drogba currently.
- David Luiz, Ivanovic - Both not fit for this week.
- Fabregas, Nasri - Goodbye soon.
- EVE and TOT players - How to score points with no games to play?
Transfer Traffic
GW 1 special: recommended initial squad
Given -- Al-Habsi
Kompany -- Rafael -- Enrique -- Hughes -- Gabbidon

2011/12 Fantasy Season Preview - Swansea
By
Leo
Swansea City AFC
Last Season SummaryLeague ranking: 3rd - League Championship (80 points)
Points per game (home: away): 2.17: 1.30
Goals per game (for: against): 1.50: 0.91
Number of clean sheets: 21 (out of 46 games)
Top league scorer: Scott Sinclair (22 goals)
Top league assister: Nathan Dyer (9 assists)
Transfers
In: Danny Graham, Steven Caulker
Out: Dorus De Vries, Scott Donnelly, Darren Pratley, Kerry Morgan
Predicted Season Finish: 18th
There wasn't anything too impressive about their statistics. Given no real impact signings yet thus far, Swansea is lacking the strength and depth to survive the tough challenges of Premier League in my opinion.
Fantasy Ace: Scott Sinclair (£6.0m)
The English footballer was bought last year for £500k, and the investment has been superbly rewarded. This talented winger had scored 22 goals last season, and I expect he can score at least one-third of that figure at Premier League this season. His outstanding goalscoring ability should also nick him some bonus points.
The only downside, of course, is his lack of assists (only 2 last season).
Decent Picks: Danny Graham (£5.0m)
Danny Graham was the of Watford at League Championship last season, scoring 23 goals from as low as 58 shots. That kind of efficiency may lead Swansea off against relegation. Decent third striker in my opinion.
Worth Scouting: Angel Rangel (£4.5m), Ashley Williams (£4.5m)
Rangel and Williams are experienced right-back and centre-back respectively and form the integral part of Swansea's defence. It's still too early to judge how good can Swansea defend in Premier League, so we shall wait and see.
